Take the total on your electric bill and divide it by the kWh it lists — including delivery charges, not just the supply rate. We ask because a state average gives a generic answer, and a generic answer is what every other calculator already gave you.

Add up twelve months, or take a winter month and multiply. Rough is fine — this sets the size of everything else.

Age changes the answer more than anything else here. Replacing something that already needs replacing is a different decision from tearing out equipment that works, and this tool will not tell you to do the second one.
