About FrugalWatt
Understand the costs before you commit.
FrugalWatt helps homeowners prepare for expensive repair and energy decisions with clear comparisons, visible assumptions and useful questions.
Who is responsible
FrugalWatt is built and maintained by Evin Anderson. Evin is responsible for the site's publishing and product decisions. View the maintainer's GitHub profile.
FrugalWatt is not an installer, government agency or equipment inspection service. No HVAC, plumbing or engineering credential is claimed for the publisher.
How the information is made
AI assists with research, drafting and software development. Pages identify source-review dates and distinguish AI-assisted reviews from historical manual checks. A new build or automated fetch does not establish human expert verification.
The repair calculator compares prices; it does not assess physical condition. Its example prices and percentage bands are editorial choices, not a professional standard. Other calculators show their assumptions so readers can understand the basis of the result.
When a source cannot establish an answer, we aim to show that uncertainty. Official source links provide evidence for specific statements, not an endorsement of FrugalWatt. Read how verification works.
How we support the site
The tools are free. Google AdSense code is installed on the homepage and our three repair guides. Whether ads appear depends on Google's review and the account's ad settings. We do not claim that Google has approved or endorsed FrugalWatt. No paid referral links are currently included.
Advertising must be identifiable, and paid referrals will be disclosed beside the link. Payment must not change the repair calculator's recommendation. Read our advertising and editorial policy.
Your information
The calculators run in your browser. You do not need to submit your contact details to see a result. Read the privacy information.
